Notes:
Renovations of the 1202 Railroad Building were extensive in order to convert existing building into a ground floor restaurant and second floor residential suites. The exterior masonry cladding was repaired and then repainted; all exterior openings were replaced with new wood clad insulated windows to maintain the historical character. Interior infrastructure required a full overhaul to include new H.V.A.C., Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Sprinkler systems. The entire building received a full seismic retrofit to bring it up to current codes. After a fire in 1950 the upper floor was abandoned and had not been improved until renovations proceeded, in order to maintain the historic importance of the building all existing brick veneer exterior walls were cleaned to remove years of debris and then sealed for dust proofing. The original fir floors were repaired, sanded and refinished to their original condition. Around 90% of the interior walls remained in the layout of the new residential space to maintain the original charm of the Cottage Hotel constructed in 1902.
