Notes:

The Gaston Bay Building Project was a major renovation of a 100-year old building situated on the Bellingham Bay waterfront. The 3-story, 25,000 s.f. space was renovated to comply with requirements for LEED “Gold” Certification under the Core and Shell (C&S) Rating System.

The project focused on decreasing energy consumption through HVAC optimization, daylighting, and use of light selves. Other highlights include use of pervious paving, captured rainwater and low-flow fixtures to reduce water consumption. The building is a combination of conventional and heavy timber framing which was jacked off the old foundation and then set back down on a new foundation. The walls and floor systems were then seismically upgraded.
